A lot of "seed oil free Aldi" lists online are from the US. Aldi US and Aldi UK sell different products. This guide is only about Aldi UK.

Does Aldi UK sell seed oil free snacks?

Yes, but you need to read labels. Many Aldi crisps and crackers use sunflower or rapeseed oil. These snacks don't:

The rye crispbread is just rye flour and salt. The corn cakes are corn and salt. The multigrain rice cakes contain sunflower seeds, which are fine. Seeds are not the same as seed oil.

The smashed avocado makes a good dip for any of these:

Which Aldi cooking oils are not seed oils?

Aldi sells several olive oils. We've checked plain, extra virgin and flavoured ones. Here is one:

Butter is another option. It has no seed oils.

Watch out for bottles that say "vegetable oil". In the UK, these are often rapeseed oil. The label should name the plant.

Seed oil free fish and meat at Aldi

Plain fish and meat have no added oil. Smoked and tinned fish can be trickier. Check what oil the fish is packed in.

The smoked mackerel is just mackerel and salt. The Parma ham is pork leg and sea salt.

Some flavoured tins list "chilli oil" or just "oil" without naming the plant. We leave those out until we know what the oil is. Plain fish in olive oil, water or brine is the easy pick.

See more tins on our tinned fish in olive oil list.

Dairy, nuts and oats

These are some of the easiest places to shop. Plain yoghurt, plain nuts and plain oats rarely have added oil.

The skyr is just yoghurt. The cottage cheese is cottage cheese and salt. The soya drink is water, soya beans and sea salt. Many plant drinks add sunflower or rapeseed oil, so this one is a good find.

The nuts are four kinds of plain nuts. The oats are just oats. The peanut butter is just roasted peanuts. Some peanut butters add palm oil, so it's worth a check.

Easy Aldi swaps

Here are some quick swaps you can make on your next shop. Each one swaps a pack that often has seed oil for one that doesn't.

  • Crisps → corn cakes or rye crispbread
  • Oat drink → unsweetened soya drink
  • Sunflower oil → olive oil or butter
  • Tuna in sunflower oil → tuna in spring water or olive oil
  • Flavoured rice cakes → plain or multigrain rice cakes
  • Peanut butter with palm oil → peanut butter that is just peanuts

Is Aldi bread seed oil free?

Not that we've found yet. Most Aldi bread we've seen lists rapeseed oil, an emulsifier, or both. We have no Aldi loaves in our catalogue today.

Aldi's rye crispbread is a good swap for now. If you find an Aldi loaf with a short list, take a photo of the label and we'll check it.

How to check an Aldi label for seed oils

It takes about 10 seconds:

  1. Find the word "Ingredients".
  2. Look for the word "oil" or "fat".
  3. Check which plant it says.

These are seed oils, or are left out by our rules:

  • rapeseed oil (also called canola)
  • sunflower oil
  • soya or soybean oil
  • corn oil
  • palm oil or palm fat
  • "vegetable oil" or "vegetable fat"

These are fine under our rules:

  • olive oil
  • avocado oil
  • coconut oil
  • butter, ghee, beef dripping and duck fat

Also check for "lecithin". It is often made from sunflower or soya. Our rules leave it out too.
